Job profile for a Assistant Hr Officer

To provide support and advice, and to assist in the development of policies and processes that contribute to realising the Council’s vision, and its corporate aims and objectives. To provide accurate and timely advice and support to departmental managers. To assist in the development and implementation of Corporate HR initiatives. To ensure equality of opportunity and access in delivery of services and employment policies and practices. To assist in the maintenance of management information systems within the service. To deliver customer focused services and assist with the marketing of the service. To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the service and make appropriate recommendations for its improvement. Particular duties and Responsibilities within: - Strategy and Projects 1. To assist in the development, updating and revision of appropriate HR policies and procedures. 2. To carry out research and analysis as directed on specific projects/initiatives being undertaken by the service. 3. To assist in the provision of accurate and timely management information. To deliver training in the use of the HR database, or other related training programmes as required. Employee Relations 1. To assist with the management of individual case work. This will include disciplinary, redundancy, restructuring, appeals and other related issues. To deliver specific employee relations training programmes as required. 2. To assist in the delivery of a Service Level Agreement to Schools and advice on Statutory guidance. Recruitment, Pay and Conditions 1. To implement a range of systems and procedures in relation to the recruitment process. 2. To provide support and advice to managers on recruitment procedures and policies 3. To respond to queries relating to conditions of service. Occupational Health & Safety 1. To provide advice and support to managers and schools on health and safety procedures and policies 2. To assist in the delivery of specific health and safety training courses as required. 3. To respond to queries/situations relating to health and safety. 4 To develop and deliver specific health and training programmes as appropriate Workplace Health 1. To proactively assist managers in managing workplace health issues, absence and implementing a range of systems and procedures in relation to creating an attendance culture. 2. To liaise between Occupational Health and the Council.
