Biggest UK Employers

The table below is the latest increment of our "Top 100 UK Employers" table.

This table lists in order from largest to smallest the companies/establishments in the UK that employ the most people, based on responses to our Salary Survey. Please note that any public-sector bodies like local councils etc will be considerably under-represented due to the huge number of descriptions that respondents may use to describe their employer. However for private companies and institutions, where possible, the various names and abbreviations for a company have been consolidated into one entry.

As has always been the case since this report was first created, the NHS comes out as top employer by a considerable margin. The banks also continue to feature prominently in the top 10, with HSBC, Barclays and RBS all featured. Supermarkets are only represented by Tesco in the top 10, with other entries including the BBC, technology companies IBM, BT and Siemens, and the giant professional services firm, KPMG.
