Job profile for a Chief Electrician

Purpose: Design and light productions as required at Theatres and elsewhere. To have an overview of all electrical needs within the building and to be the main point of contact and information regarding electrical issues in the Theatre. Main Duties & Key Responsibilities: Maintain all electrical equipment in performing and rehearsal areas of the theatre. This includes full responsibility for lighting equipment. Provide and maintain pre-planned show specific lighting for Front of House. To maintain and rig sound equipment (but not to design or operate). To ensure all theatre/production electrical equipment meets Health & Safety standards. Supervising electrical trainees in conjunction with Production Manager. Operate or recruit operator (lighting) for all shows. Supervise/train any other temporary electricians/lighting operators brought in for productions (e.g.: follow spots, etc.). To supervise visiting lighting technicians to ensure the safe management of equipment. To be responsible for the ordering, stock-taking and maintenance of the lamp store. To provide advice to the Theatre Manager and maintenance companies/suppliers on electrical issues in the Theatre.
