Job profile for a Configuration Engineer

Take responsibility for the management of Design Data in accordance with recoqnised procedures. Raise and maintain Product Baselines which establishes the declared relationships between individual pieces of data to record the Configuration of each Design. Manage the Change Control process for product designs. This requires the application of judgement within guidelines and processes to ensure the integrity of the design is maintained. Act as expert resource on Configuration issues and advise engineers on achieving the required level of Configuration Control at minimum cost. Liase with Customers, Workshare Partners and Suppliers on Configuration issues. Supply costs and data to support Bids and Proposals endeavouring to satisfy likely needs of customers. Propose the most cost effective solutions. Issue Design Data and associated information. Arrange for supply of Design Data to Procurement and Manufacturing. Supply copies of the Design Data and Baselines as required, both internally and externally. Represent Configuration & Data Management at meetings. Arrange and chair Configuration Control Board meetings between Engineering, Manufacturing and Programme Management to ensure that any changes to the Design data are handled correctly. Represent the CM at meetings with the Customer. Manage and adminster an all-electronic record based system (PDM).
