Job profile for a Diabetic Retinal Screener

This role includes taking didital photographs of the back of a diabetic patients eye(known as the retina). A diploma is completed for this qualification but while in the process of starting and completing the diploma you are still able to photograph.These photographs will then be viewd by a specialist to be graded. At the end of this course you are able to carry out a further qualification to enable you to grade these photos on a basis of urgency meaning that if you notice any unusual occurances you will be responsible for marking this as an urgent referral which will need to be looked at by a specialist straight away. If it is decided that this course to grade is for you then you will be known as a diabetic retinal grader once fully qualified.
