To ensure that the as-built dimensions of the completed product conform to the relevant standards, to report and record the dimensions of the completed product. The tools for measuremant can be as basic as spirit levels and tapes through to total stations and laser scanners, the latter are usually used in conjunction with transformation and best-fit software. The reporting is usually by way of a CAD program. Work locations are generally outdoors although duties are performed in engineering and fabrication facilities. there can also be positions in the Offshore Oil & Gas industry with a requirement to travel to offshore facilities.
