Job profile for a Nvq Assessor

Visit candidates in their workplace, induct them to the National Standards they will be assessed against, get the contract signed. Plan with the individual (& in some cases their manager) to show how they will produce the evidence to prove competence. Most of the evidence should be from Naturalistic Observation but some can be from Witness Testimony (from manager etc.), Written Accounts or Work Products (e.g. Risk Assessment, Personal Development Plan etc.)The Assessor will visit approximately every 4 weeks to support the learner, receive new work and give feedback & together they will build up a portfolio of evidence. The Assessor will assess all evidence against the National Standards & log the work in their portfolio. At intervals the assessor will submit the portfolio to an Internal Verifyer who samples the portfolio, this is a check on whether the assessor is working to the required standard. As progression is made completed units are claimed by the assessorare & signed off by the IV when the evidence shows competence sustained over time (i.e. has been seen several times in their normal work role). When all units are complete the portfolio goes for a final IV & is signed off, a certificate is then ordered. The new E-Portfolio is now in use & candidates upload their work, assessors give feedback & log the work electronically. This entails less visits/mileage and support can be given more frequently but will only suit those learners who are computer-savvy, it which case the old paper-based system can still be used.
