Job profile for a Recruitment Consultant

A recruitment consultant is a person who tries to find candidates to meet certain roles. Typically a client company will employ a recruitment consultant (sometimes freelance but usually a company) who will then try to find clients that meet the brief passed to them by that company. The recruitment consultant should proactively try to find suitable candidates in addition to assessing the relevance of those that come to them. Thus when you are on the books of a recruitment consultant you may well get periodic emails seeing if you are interested in a role, to suggest friends who might be interested and to update them on the state of your career etc. The world of the internet and online has greatly increased the number of people who cut out the recruitment consultant and are able to find about jobs straight from employers, but in many industries such as accounting, IT etc then the role of recruitment consultant is still very much alive.
