Job profile for a Research Assistant

RA position comprises primarily of laboratory based work. Cell biology, molecular biology, neurobiology and developmental biology. Experiments might include microscope work, flow cytometry, bacterial and molecular cloning, PCR, tissue culture, animal studies, sequencing, gene expression analysis, ChIP, Chip-seq and sequencing. Other duties include, ordering, preparation of presentations/explanation of data, planning research approach, literature search/reading and contributing to the writing for research and review papers. Other skills necessary for the job: Good time management, critical thinking, slight of hand, motivation, imagination and a lot of hard work. Most RAs are required to have a PhD.
