Job profile for a Station Supervsior

Managing the day to day operations of the railway on a particular station or number of stations. Monitoring customer service and ticket sales via Passenger operated machines Safety and security of all passengers, tenants and staff on station Ticket Sales as required from Ticket window and or supervising ticket office staff where staff are present. Hands on track operations in case of service disruptions. Scotching and Clipping points -this is where one piece of track joins/meets another. Searching for obstructions on the track. Might be asked to remove such obstruction where safe to do so. Communication with stakeholders such as neighbours, tenants, contractors and senior management with respect to safety matters or improvements in and around the station. Highlighting defects and equipment failures in and around the station for repairs (keeping a log of this) Facilitating contractors' access to station for upgrade and repair work during engineering hours( period between when the station is closed to when trains begin to run again the morning. Checking engineers paperwork is valid and in date. Advising management team on optimal use of engineering hours. -ensuring complementary work are done in parallel wherever possible. Liasing with third parties Emergency services, British Transport POlice when incidents happen across the line. Communicating and advising customers for the best routes for their journeys by giving real time information over tannoys, Dot matrix and other station information infrastructure. The overall performance of the London Underground Station rests on the Station Supervisors shoulders. The Station Supervisor will have passed a series of safety related assessments, will be fully trained and licenced to carry out these safety critical tasks.
