Job profile for a Store Manager

A store manager is a person who runs and is ultimately responsible for a particular trading outlet often of a company or franchise. The store manager is the one with control over the hiring and firing, the stock levels, strategy and so on of the store. Therefore it is quite a responsible job that may have a lot of pressure on it depending on the targets that are set and how prestigious or flagship the store is. Being the store manager for a large department store for instance could be a job that commands quite a high salary and also with the various decisions and things that can go wrong it can be quite a pressurised job with long hours. Lower level store manager jobs where people are responsible for day-to-day running of a store rather than all aspects of the store, and where it is a one man band or small little shop, then whilst still a responsible job there will be a lot less pressure on the role and the pay will be commensurately lower.
