Job profile for a Train Conductor

Knowledge of railway rules and regulations, dealing with emergency situations as they arise, route learning, assisting passengers during delays, train door operation and keeping the time of train at each station. All condutors are safety critical. With FirstScotrail, trainees undertake a four month training course depending on routes and traction to be learned. All conductors are issued with company phones for contact with base. Pay is about 25k basic with pay rise of 5.1% pending in April 2011. Sundays are considered overtime. Conductors also recieve 5% commission on ticket sales, about £200 extra a month.
