Benefits and National Insurance Contributions

Some benefits that are available in the UK are linked to the NIC contributions that you and sometimes your spouse or your civil partner have made.

Here is a list of benefits that are related to NIC contributions:

• State pension
• Bereavement allowance / payment
• Widowed parents allowance
• Additional state pension: this is available to class 1 national insurance contribution payers only
• jobseekers allowance - contribution based for class 1 NIC payers only
