Interest Rate

If you have read the definition on interest and are now familiar with that term, then the way that it is quantified is through an interest rate.

This specifies how much interest you get, in percentage terms, relative to the amount that is deposited or lent.

For instance on the simplest calculation of interest if you deposit £100 and get 5% interest over the course of a year then that would be £5 interest.
