Sorting Out Finances Once Married

When you get married, you should have a health check of your finances and see what each partner has at the time of getting married: Savings, debts and so on.

Then you have to decide: join together or keep separate with a joint account perhaps to pay bills.

If you join together it makes sense for one person to maintain and look after finances - too many cooks spoil the broth.

This is fine but be sure to discuss finances before you get married as they can be a potential sticking point and you don't want to get into arguments as soon as you get married.

Talking about all this in good time and sorting out your finances is not only prudent but it makes sense and if you can start off the marriage financially in good health as it were then that will continue in the months and years to come and good, organised finance will be something that happens quite naturally.
