Hyperinflation

Inflation gone hyper? Just what is hyperinflation.

Well it is when prices are going up extremely quickly, so it really is hyper-inflation, as in very fast inflation. It can also be called runaway inflation and when you consider that it usually describes conditions where prices are rising by around a half in an extraordinary short period of time - about a month - you can see why it is called runaway.
