Embezzlement

Embezzlement is an illegal activity, and it refers to one whereby money is procured illegally.

As a simple example if a cashier in a bank takes some money out of the till and uses it for their own use, then this is embezzlement.

There are many ways that this process can take place, and therefore sometimes huge frauds taking lots of money over a long period of time are uncovered, because of the number of ways it can happen and showing how detection can be very difficult in some cases.
